I boarded the Sky at the end of one cruise and stayed on for the beginning of another. Thus, I had time in between cruises to explore the Sky’s homeport of Southampton, England. I went to the Sea City Museum to check out more about the area.
The museum has several parts, but the one that drew me to the museum was their Titanic Exhibit.
Southampton, England was where the Titanic departed from. The city has a history of being a port and many of the residents were mariners. Thus, a large portion of the crew on the Titanic were from Southampton and the area. The part of the exhibit that really stuck with me was the map of Southampton with every house marked in red that lost someone when the Titanic sank. There were so many red dots! I can’t imagine the city-wide heartbreak after the tragedy.
