SIFF Advisory Committee

I was just asked to join the SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) Service Advisory Committee. Yippee!

UWB Innovation Forum

On Monday 2/11 I will co-presenting at the University of Washington Bothell Innovation Forum with professor Kari Lerum. Our talk – Hollywood Stripper Stories: What can we learn from stories about sexy dancing women? – is based on our textual analysis of approximately 50 American films featuring strippers or burlesque dancers in central roles. I don’t want to give away our preliminary findings here since we are working on a paper for peer review about the project, but I will “tease” that the results are interesting and challenge historical frameworks for analyzing the representation of women in film. If you want to catch our talk it will be held at 4pm in Library 205 on the UWB/Cascadia campus.
